So you’ve got your email subscription service up and running, now how do you start growing your email list? Email opt in freebie ideas are an easy way to start building your following.
Email lists are an important aspect of building a successful business. By having an email list, bloggers can connect with their audience, promote their products and affiliates, and advertise latest blog posts, plus so much more!
One of the first things bloggers should do is get their email list going. Even if your blog doesn’t have many page views yet, start your email list! The earlier, the better, because it can take time to get subscribers!
One thing that successful bloggers do is create incentives for users to want to join their email list. Without an incentive, why would they join?
Think about when you go to your favorite website to do some online shopping. If they just said, “Hey, join our email list“, you would probably just click exit. However, if they said “Hey, join our email list and you’ll get 20% off!“, you might think about it!
The same goes for your users. You need to give them a reason to give you their email! Luckily, there are a ton of things bloggers can do to get users to sign up, while providing users with valuable information and/or products!

Email list providers for bloggers

If you have yet to begin your email list, you might be wondering, “What email providers are the best for bloggers?” There are a lot of options, and it can be overwhelming to decide which is the best!
Before you start thinking of email opt in freebie ideas, let’s discuss some email service options. Here are a few of my favorites:
ConvertKit is an AMAZING email service subscription. Anything you could possibly want to do in terms of sending out emails and providing options, they’ve got it!
They are a bit pricy and might not be ideal for beginner bloggers- but you will definitely get your moneys worth!
If you wish, you can try a free plan to see if you like it!
OptinMonster is another email service provider that is very popular among bloggers. They also have tons of features to help you build custom templates, different form options, and campaign types!
They have 4 different pricing options with different features, so you can get only what you need!
Mailerlite is the last email subscription provider I want to talk about. This provider is free for up to 1000 subscribers, which makes it great for beginners! You can customize your emails with drag and drop templates right through the website, and can create many different campaigns!
Email opt in freebie ideas for bloggers
Alright, let’s get right to it! There are so many ways you can incentify your audience to join your email newsletter. From worksheets to quizzes to templates, this list has got them all! We will discuss each one in more detail to give you some inspiration!
1. ebook

If the thought of writing an ebook scares you, you’re not alone! Most bloggers (at least in the beginning) get scared off at the thought of writing a book. However, when using an ebook for an email opt in, it doesn’t have to be the length of an entire book.
What I mean is, even 10 pages is enough for a freebie! Certainly you can manage that, given images and visuals will take up some room as well!
You can easily make ebooks using Canva, as they have tons of templates!
2. Printables

Internet users love their printables. If all else fails, make a printable for your opt in. It is probably the easiest opt in to make, and is great to use until you can create something better!
Some ideas could include templates, outlines, visuals, quotes, or worksheets. Take a look at your top post, and see if you can create a printable for it!
3. Checklist

Another one of the most popular email opt in freebie ideas is a checklist! Like printables, internet users love their checklists- and who doesn’t?!
With all the information thrown at us every day, it can be difficult to keep track of it all. Having just the necessities in checklist form makes things much easier.
Some ideas include packing lists, blogging checklists, to do lists, etc. The possibilities are endless!
4. access to resource library

Another one of the more creative email opt in freebie ideas is giving those who sign up for your email list access to a resource library.
You can create a password protected page on your website, full of exclusive content, printables, information, etc. Just give the password in your first email, and they will be able to access it!
This is a fun and unique opt in idea, and the mystery of it all might be enough to get some subscribers!
5. offer a discount or coupon

Another easy way to incentify users to join your email list is to give them a discount or coupon to a product you sell. This might not be applicable if you don’t have a product or service just yet, but is a good one to keep in mind!
Even a 20% off coupon is enough to get users to want to join, especially if they were going to buy your product anyway!
6.Quiz

People love to take quizzes. One of the easiest email opt in freebie ideas is to have users take a quiz. In order to get their results, have them add their email!
Some ideas might be, what kind of worker are you, what is your ideal makeup look, etc. Get creative with it!
7. Video training

If you have a lot of knowledge in a particular area, why not use it to your advantage? Offer a training video in exchange for signing up for your email. The video does not have to be very long- even just 10 minutes!
Some ideas include a video tutorial of how to create something, teaching a particular task, or a motivational speech!
How to choose topics for email opt ins
Still stuck on ideas? Here are some ideas! Check Google Analytics and take not of your top few posts. What is your audience interested in the most that you have to offer?
Use these topics, and make opt ins out of them! Add a printable, checklist, or turn your post into a video!
You can also take a look at Pinterest Trends or Google Trends to see what your audience is interested in to get some inspiration!
